The Mk II Spring Set

Description

Introduced in March 2020, the new metal springs for Mk II TubeTraps have been developed specifically for BioEcoSS TubeTraps. Manufactured from heat-treated stainless steel they are extremely strong and resistant to corrosion. They provide a much greater consistency and longer life than the original elastic springs and are a significant design improvement for BioEcoSS TubeTraps.

There are five parts to the full spring set:

• The door spring with an extended hook to attach to the door and a loop to go over the peg on the tunnel base.
• A small rubber O-ring to hold the door spring tightly on the peg.
• Two trip-weight springs with large loops at one end to slide over the spring bars and...
• A small wire bridge which connects the two trip-weight springs.

The door spring provides exactly the right degree of tension over the full range of movement as the door closes. The trip-weight spring set allows the lightest trip-weight to be set at 3g and the heaviest weight at >15g.

Due to their rugged construction it is unlikely that they will ever need to be replaced. However, they are available as spare parts to enable retro-fitting to your existing Mk II TubeTraps that use the original elastic springs. This provides a cheap and simple way to keep your traps working to their highest efficiency.
